R^{n}

$R^{n \times 1}$ is the set of $n \times 1$ real-valued column vectors. Because we often work with column vectors, we use the short hand notation $R^{n} = R^{n \times 1}$ . In 1.5 Set Builder Notation, we have

R^{n} = {[\begin{matrix} x_{1} \\ x_{2} \\ ⋮ \\ x_{n} \end{matrix}] : x_{i} \in R for all i \in {1, 2, \dots, n}}
